My LessonsDuring my time at Windsor High School. I taught Drawing II, Sculpture II, Ceramics II, and three sections of Ceramics & Sculpture I. Thus, I got to work with a variety of materials and gained experience teaching different mediums to all grade levels. Though some were more challenging than others, I learned a lot about the process of teaching a variety of classes. Each lesson involved planning, creating, and critiquing work. Students were evaluated throughout the process with rubrics based on the Colorado State Standards.
Matching Sets // Ceramics IIAfter creating teapots, students expanded their themes by creating a matching set of cups, bowls, or planters. The sets focused on creating unity through form, surface treatment, or thematic elements.
| Assemblage Self-Portraits // Sculpture IIStudents collected found objects which portrayed an abstracted self-portrait. The sculptures depict an important aspect of each students' life. These sculptures were displayed in shadow boxes that students constructed or found.
Surrealism Stippling // Drawing IIStudents learned how to create value with stippling. Compositions were created using collage to imitate Surrealist ideals of juxtaposition and contradiction. The collages were then transformed into a drawing with realistic proportions and value only created with stippling.
